Are you Emotional or Non-Emotional

So, which are you according to Human Design – an emotional or a non-emotional?

It should be roughly 50% of you in either camp.

But what does it mean?

It is quite simple. If you look at your Human Design chart, is your authority Emotional? If it is, then you’re emotional. If your authority is anything else then you are non-emotional.

These terms can be misleading, though, particularly the non-emotional aspect.

So, let’s dive a little deeper.

When the term non-emotional is used in Human Design, it doesn’t mean that you are completely lacking in emotions.

What it does mean is that you do not experience emotions as a wave. Because your Solar Plexus is undefined, you do not have the consistency that comes with this centre being defined.

It does not mean that you don’t experience emotions! You definitely do!

Some of those emotions are you responding to and amplifying the emotional waves of people with an emotional authority. These are not your true emotions. They are meant to be experienced like a wave flowing through you rather than remaining within you.

If you are non-emotional you are here to reflect the emotional waves of others. When there is awareness around this, it means that you get a small sense of the total range of emotions. You are also able to support those with emotional waves in understanding their own waves.

It’s also useful to remember that if you have any hanging gates in the Solar Plexus, your emotions will be triggered by others and by transits. There is a fallacy that the non-emotional are always at emotional neutral when they are alone.

Although there is some truth to this, it is not the full picture. If the transits are creating a channel going from the Solar Plexus, you will be experiencing emotions.

There are also other parts of your design that will lead you to experience other kinds of emotions that are truly yours. 

You might experience feelings of anxiety or stress. You might experience particular fears. You might experience some of the not-self emotions attached to your type and strategy. These are just some of the ways in which emotion is part of your lived experience.

The fact is – we are all here to be emotional beings, we just all have different ways of expressing that.
